Job Description:
\n
Under the supervision of the Shift Supervisor and/or the Underground Superintendent, the primary role of the Long Hole Driller is to perform production and service hole drilling duties in an underground environment. Additional work may include loading explosives, installation and grouting cables for support.
\n
Responsibilities
General:\n
Operate Production ITH Drills (Sandvik Solo) for blast holes and service holes.
\n
Prepare daily reports of all drilling activities.
\n
Read and understand planned drill patterns
\n
Wash, scale and make safe drill areas to be marked up
\n
Measure location and stake out pattern of holes to be drilled, load blast holes with explosives and detonate explosives as per company procedures.
\n

Health and Safety:
\n
Having the authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and effective working environment
\n
Following Redpath Canada Limited health and safety standards and systems, including the Five Point Safety System and the Cardinal Rules, and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions
\n
Responsible to ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment required in the performance of the work.
\n
Must have knowledge of the WHMIS legislation and know how to effectively use an MSDS sheet.
\n
Comply with the Act and Mining Regulations that apply to the work area.
\n
Qualifications
Work Experience:\n
Minimum 3 years’ experience in ITH long hole drilling
\n
Knowledge Required
\n
Demonstrated ability to read mine plans and specifications for underground mining.
\n
Ability to multi task and work effectively
\n
Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently

Rotation:7 on, 7 off or 14 on 14 off
\n
Shift Length:11 hours
\n
Salary Range: $78,000
