Summary Role:
The focus of this role is to elevate the performance of our products, including mechanical equipment, gas and solar powered battery equipment and home back-up powered products. This includes improvements found throughout the full cycle of product development from the designing phase through to production testing, and actual use from customers feedback to include in next phase of design for improvement.
You will be hands-on to validate products in development, and improve the quality of the products through testing and evaluations before the final product reaches consumers, while taking real feedback from users and put actions to improve on future products.
Youâll work alongside industrial designers, and manufacturing teams to identify issues, improve processes, and help us build brilliant products for real-world users that will be sold in large retail stores across Canada.
Responsibilities
In a typical week you will:
- Identify quality improvement areas from product feedback and testing.
- Incorporate feedback into product development plans.
- Collaborate with the designers and manufacturers to make high-impact quality changes.
- Inspect and test incoming samples and finished products.
- Test products, document results and incorporate into a process to meet or exceed quality standards.
- Investigate issues, find the root causes and implement practical solutions to ensure the product functions as intended.
- Review inspection reports, record inspection outcomes, and incorporate feedback into future productions
- Develop and implement quality protocols, procedures, and documentation.

- Hands-on Problem Solver â ability to identify issues, determine root cause and find the appropriate solution to turn recommendations into actions.
- Mechanically Curious - have a mechanical knowledge of how things work, how theyâre built, and why they fail. Power equipment and hard-goods knowledge is a plus!
- Thorough and precise - you donât rush conclusions. You gather data, validate assumptions and make evidence-based decisions.
- Patient and persistent â youâre steady under pressure and willing to work through problems until theyâre truly solved.

Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in Mechanical / Civil Engineering, Industrial Designer, or similar with combined working experience
- Minimum 3 years of working experience in product improvement and development
- Proficient in SolidWorks and other CAD tools
- Familiar with improvement tools and methodologies (i.e. Lean, Six Sigma)
- Bilingual English and Cantonese is an asset
