Job Summary:
Reporting to Associate Director, the Air Medical Supervisor in each region provides guidance, instruction, direction and leadership to the AMS group. This position requires completing Nurse/ACP/RRT rotations at base(s) as required. Training, mentoring new employees, as well as monitoring and maintaining the status of crew accommodations, bases, supplies and aircraft. The Supervisor works closely with the other members of the crew and flight followers on a day-to-day basis.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Current CRNM (College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba) as a Nurse or CPMB (College of Paramedics of Manitoba) as an Advanced Care Paramedic or MARRT (Manitoba Association of Registered Respiratory Therapists) as a Respiratory Therapist
- University degree in nursing or respiratory therapy or Advanced Care Paramedic Certificate, or an equivalent level of education and experience
- Ability to obtain Instructor Certification as required in areas like: BCLS, First Aid, ACLS, PALS, PHTLS, TNCC and CAMATA
- Previous experience working with Microsoft Office such as Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.
- Previous management experience is considered an asset
- Previous experience in the medical aviation industry is considered an asset
- Strong leadership with progressive management experience required
- Current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening, Current Adult Abuse Registry Check, Current Child Abuse Registry Check
- Able to obtain and maintain Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC) and Winnipeg Airports Authority (WAA)
- Valid Driver’s License is required.
- Enhanced education and experience are considered an asset.
- Previous flight experience is considered an asset.
- Indigenous Awareness and/or Cultural Diversity training considered an asset.
- Proof of immunization status
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Provide direction, leadership, and training to medical personnel in partnership with Associate Director Nunavut
- Ensure that policies, processes and procedures are in place to maintain regulatory compliance of medevac operations
- Act as liaison between staff and management
- Ensure that Health and Safety rules are adhered to in the workplace
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
- Perform training needs analysis and identify learning requirements through discussion with the appropriate personnel and chart review
- Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by monitoring confidential personal health information processing
- Ensure that all incident reports, patient complaints and unusual incidents are investigated and dealt with accordingly, working in collaboration with Associate Director, Nunavut Air Medical Operations and company SMS program.
- Ensure that front line equipment and supplies are always mission ready and accurate records are kept reflecting same
- Maintain and plan for future medical supply and equipment requirements by working in conjunction with other regional supervisors
- Ensure adequate condition of crew accommodations and be the point of contact to coordinate all accommodation needs
- Participate in the maintenance of Total Quality Management Program, in collaboration with Medical Director, including reviewing and auditing patient care records and maintaining statistics
- Provide immunizations and first aid to employees as required
- Work with Associate Director and delegate on schedule changes of AMS personnel as required
- Perform all other duties as assigned by Associate Director
- When operationally required to do so, the Air Medical Supervisor may need to travel to other KAL operated regions.
