The Scleroderma Society is a part of a national non-profit organization committed to supporting individuals affected by scleroderma through education, advocacy, and research. We work to raise awareness, fund creative research, and foster a supportive community for patients and their families across the country.
Position Summary:
The Scleroderma Society of Ontario We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Special Events Coordinator to support the planning, execution, and wrap-up of a national, month-long fundraising program. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for event planning, community engagement, and nonprofit work. The successful candidate must be available to attend and support in-person events on weekends throughout the internship period.
Under the supervision of the Fund Development Specialist, the person in this position will work on:
· Fundraising Program Coordination: Assist in the coordination and execution of a national month-long fundraising initiative, including logistics, registration tracking, participant communications, and day-to-day administrative support.
· In-Person Event Support: Attend weekend events to provide on-site support including setup/takedown, registration, volunteer coordination, and community engagement.
· Outreach & Engagement: Support outreach efforts to participants, sponsors, and volunteers via phone, email, and social media, helping to foster excitement and participation.
· Promotional Support: Help prepare event materials, signage, kits, and promotional items; assist with creating content for event-related communications and social media.
· Post-Event Wrap-Up: Assist with thank-you communications, impact reporting, and post-event documentation and data entry.
· General Administrative Support: Provide organizational support including managing schedules, tracking deadlines, and maintaining event files.
Skills and Experience
· Post-secondary education in a relevant program or equivalent experience
· Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
· Strong written communication and editing skills. Proofreading and attention to detail.
· Exceptional organizational abilities, time management skills with an ability to meet deadlines, multitask and prioritize assigned duties
· Experience working in event coordination, event planning or project management is an asset
· Social Media experience is preferred
· Collaborative relationship-builder
· Achievement-oriented; a goal-setter

Typical Hours
May: Monday to Friday – 9:00am – 5:00pm (some flexibility required – evenings & weekends)
June: Tuesday to Saturday – 9:00am – 5:00pm (some flexibility required)
