Are you the one we’re looking for?
We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated Newcomer Employment Case Manager who demonstrates our values of compassion, accountability, responsiveness, and empowerment; to our clients, families, and each other.
The Newcomer Employment Case Manager is responsible for providing case management support to Asylum Seekers/Refugee Claimants in Hamilton.
The Newcomer Employment Case Manager will hold a caseload, comprised of individuals and families, which they will assist in integrating into the community to ensure community connection.
This position is a temporary unionized, full time position. The rate of pay is $23.93 per hour. The hours for this position are 40 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Welcome, interact, and support clients accessing the program and be available and approachable to address clients’ needs as they arise.
2. Conduct initial intake and needs assessment to understand the individual needs of each client/family.
3. Special attention and time will be to provide Employment related support to job seekers
4. Provide appropriate client

up with clients as needed.
6. Conduct job search appointments, coordinate with team and enter data correctly as per completion of work during appointments
7. Advocate on behalf of clients for services and resources in the community.
8. Provide life skills, telephone support, and crisis intervention as needed.
9. Participate in case management meetings with internal staff and external service providers.
10. Maintain good relationships and collaborate with other internal programs and external service providers to provide support to Asylum Seekers and other newcomer job seekers.
What you will bring:
1. Minimum; Social Service Worker diploma or equivalent with relevant practical experience working with newcomers.
2. Advanced knowledge of a second language is an asset: Somali, Swahili, or Arabic preferred.
3. Must be registered and in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers or eligible for registration at the time of employment is required. Note: registration must be completed within 90 days after the start of employment.
4. Minimum 1

2 years of experience in an Intensive Case Management role serving a vulnerable population, including victims of trauma, is required.
5. Comprehensive understanding of Employment support programs, and available support to Asylum seekers
