Write, configure and integrate code to create the software that aligns with requirements, architecture patterns and technology standards.
\n
Decompose business requirements and translate them into detailed design specifications and code.
\n
Design, develop, test, and maintain applications using COBOL, and AS400 CLP.
\n
Assess impact of design decisions to the computer solution/product/service being developed (i.e., performance, schedule, budget, downstream component/system impact, quality, etc.) and recommend alternate/creative solutions for mitigation/optimization if required.
\n
Analyze and optimize application systems, monitor, track and enhance performance and address any issues (maintenance).
\n
Support production issues, including independently completing root‑cause analysis and diagnosis.
\n
Understand the implications of various components (including technology strategy & architecture) to the overall design of a program, system, or ecosystem.
\n
Lead/conduct detailed code reviews and provide feedback in a constructive manner.
\n
Design solutions, write code, perform unit testing, develop appropriate artefacts/documentation, and facilitate final delivery.
\n
Devise new algorithms and data structures for target environment and platform attributes in alignment with architectural patterns.
\n
Recommend or automate approaches to streamline and integrate technological processes and/or systems to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
\n
Support the management of specific project deliverables and outcomes.
\n
Work independently and regularly handle non‑routine situations.
\n
Perform unit, integration, and regression testing to verify the functionality as per the project requirements or functionality of the mainframe systems.
\n
Qualifications
\n
Have 10+ years of experience with IBM AS400 CLP, COBOL, in an Ingenium PAS environment.
\n
Development experience in INGENIUM. Versions 5.x – 7.x.
\n
Knowledge or related experience working in a systems development or production environment supporting life insurance applications.
\n
Knowledge of software development practices, concepts, and technology obtained through formal training and/or work experience.
\n
Knowledge of technical/business environment and processes, of life insurance products (whole life, term, disability, universal life, wealth, and health products).
\n
Able to demonstrate hands‑on knowledge of INGENIUM product and business process functionality.
\n
Knowledge of creating documentation using JIRA and Confluence.
\n
Ability to understand testing requirements, prepare test plan, write and execute test cases.
\n
Understand functional aspects and technical behavior of the underlying operating system, development environment, and deployment practices.
\n
Have facility with and understanding of the ecosystem that code operates in.
\n
Good verbal and written communication skills.
\n
