quality approach. He/she must ensure to work within his/her area of expertise in accordance with the laws and regulations governing the professional practice of LPNs.
She/he collaborates in the data collection relating to the resident's health history and, among other things, he/she measures patients’ vital signs, prepares and administers medication, carries out the various treatments prescribed by the physicians, and helps provide basic care for hygiene and comfort. She/he contributes to the support of residents for ADLs.
The LPN carefully observes the behaviour and reactions of the resident. He/she must be attentive to and report any changes in the person’s state of health and to transmit any relevant information on the person's state of health to the nurse and the care team and provide appropriate and effective care. She/he administers the treatments and medications resulting from the care plan according to the activities reserved for the licensed practical nurse.
REQUIREMENTS
Education:
• Must hold a diploma of vocational studies (DVS) in health, assistance and nursing from a school recognized by the competent government department;
• Must be a member of l'Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers auxiliaires du Quebec.
Experience:
• Two (2) years’ experience as an LPN.
Knowledge and abilities:
• Knowledge of the Cree culture, language and social/health issues in Eeyou Istchee is an asset;
• Excellent interpersonal communication and teamwork skills;
• Energetic personality and self
