The Municipality of Sioux Lookout is seeking a skilled Chief Mechanic to join our Public Works team. This hands‑on role plays a key part in keeping our municipal fleet running safely and reliably, working alongside a supportive and experienced team.

What are we looking for

Licensed Heavy Duty and Motor Vehicle Mechanic
\n
Valid Class DZ licence (AZ is an asset)
\n
5+ years of related experience
\n
Robust troubleshooting and repair skills
\n
Able to work independently and manage workload
\n
Knowledge of health and safety requirements
\n
Municipal or fleet experience is an asset
\n
Detail‑oriented with valuable record‑keeping skills
\n
Able to read technical manuals
\n
Solid teamwork and communication skills
\n
Willing to mentor others
\n
Physically able to meet job demands
\n
\n
What will you be doing
\n\n
Maintain and repair municipal fleet and heavy equipment
\n
Perform inspections and routine maintenance
\n
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues
\n
Repair or replace parts and components as needed\n
Service equipment attachments (plows, blades, etc.)
\n
Respond to occasional after‑hours/emergency repairs
\n
Keep maintenance records and report issues
\n
Maintain a clean and safe shop
\n
Support fleet reliability and operations
\n
Mentor an Apprentice Mechanic
\n
Follow all health and safety practices
\n
