Join Absolute Tool Technologies as we seek a dedicated Service Technician to join our team. If you're passionate about the plastic injection mold industry and meet the qualifications below, we invite you to apply:
Position Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Key Responsibilities
- Support Program Managers and Process Technicians during mold tryouts, sampling runs, and validation activities.
- Troubleshoot mold-related issues affecting part quality such as flash, short shots, sticking parts, and poor venting.
- Perform mechanical adjustments to mold components including slides, lifters, ejector systems, and inserts.
- Disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble molds during trial, service, and modification stages.
- Conduct minor mold repairs and adjustments to support successful trial runs and mold validation.
- Inspect molded sample parts and assist in identifying tooling-related defects and improvement opportunities.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company safety procedures, tooling standards, and quality requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to tooling performance and production readiness.
- Travel to customer facilities across Canada and the United States to perform mold service and support tryout activities.
- When not traveling, work within the shop under the direction of the Tooling Leader or Manufacturing Manager assisting with mold maintenance and shop activities.
Qualifications / Skills
- Experience working with plastic injection molding molds and tooling systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read CAD designs and tooling prints.
- Knowledge of mold components including slides, lifters, ejector systems, inserts, and cooling circuits.
- Familiarity with hot runner systems and mold tryout procedures.
- Experience working with tool room equipment and precision measuring tools.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Process Technicians, Engineers, and Mold Makers.
- Background in mold making, tool maintenance, or precision handwork.
- Mold polishing, deburring, and detailed handwork to support part release and venting during tryout presses a strong asset.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to maintain composure and remain productive in high-pressure environments.
- Good communication skills when interacting with Program Managers and customer representatives.
- Valid driver’s license and passport required.
- Willingness and ability to travel as required.
- Minimum 8 years experience
