We’re looking for a Machinist Supervisor who can lead a team, hit deadlines, and still jump on a machine when needed. This is a hands-on leadership position in a fast-paced, heavy manufacturing environment where production, quality, and accountability matter.
Role Overview:
- Lead and direct machinists on the shop floor while remaining actively involved in machining (50/50 role)
- Drive production to meet delivery targets, quality standards, and customer expectations
- Ensure your team has the tools, materials, and direction needed to get the job done right
- Work closely with Engineering, Management, and Project Teams to resolve production issues
- Monitor and improve machining processes, procedures, and quality standards
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across machining operations
- Coordinate manpower planning, scheduling, overtime, and shift requirements
- Partner with HR on training, development, and performance management
- Assist with hiring, coaching, discipline, and team development
- Ensure all health & safety standards are enforced (OHSA compliant)
- Oversee incident reporting and ensure proper documentation is completed
- Contribute to production reporting and operational planning
Experience & Qualifications:
- Strong background in manual and CNC machining (setups, tooling, processes)
- Proven leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to lead a team while staying hands-on
- Solid understanding of:
- Machine building practices
- Hydraulic, pneumatic, and lubrication systems
- Production processes and quality control
- Experience with stamping or hydraulic presses (asset)
- Strong math and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (AutoCAD familiarity is an asset)
- Working knowledge of Ontario OHSA and workplace safety standards
- Strong communication and leadership skills
Requirements:
- High School Diploma (required)
- Machine Shop / Technical Diploma (preferred)
- 8+ years of manufacturing experience, including leadership (preferred)
