About the Role
The People and Culture (P&C;) Partner/Manager is a vital link between our organizational mission and our people. We are seeking a dedicated P&C; professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and brings a broad range of experience across the full employee lifecycle.
In this role, you will serve as a trusted resource on matters ranging from employee relations, policy development and interpretation, and strategic talent acquisition to supporting labour relations within a partially unionized environment. The ideal candidate is a versatile P&C; professional, someone who can confidently navigate employee relations matters and policy application, support collective agreement interpretation when needed, and lead innovative recruitment and people initiatives across the broader organization.
What You’ll Do
- Provide day-to-day people support by responding to employee and manager inquiries, resolving issues, and fostering a positive workplace experience
- Act as a trusted advisor to leaders on employee relations, performance management, policy interpretation, and documentation
- Support a partially unionized environment by providing guidance on collective agreements and participating in labour relations matters as needed
- Lead end-to-end recruitment, including job design, sourcing strategies, screening, interviews, and job offer management
- Manage complex employee matters, including leaves of absence, workplace investigations, accommodations, and disability management, including return-to-work planning and WorkSafeBC processes
- Stay current on employment legislation and ensure organizational compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Support and enhance the annual performance review process to drive employee development and organizational effectiveness
- Contribute to the development, review, and implementation of People & Culture policies aligned with best practices and organizational goals
- Support HRIS optimization, including data integrity, and workflow improvements
- Leverage workforce data and analytics to identify trends and inform decision-making
- Develop and deliver training, and provide coaching to leaders to build people leadership capability
- Participate in and help lead key committees, including Health & Safety, People & Culture, and Labour Management
- Continuously improve People processes, documentation, and workflows to enhance efficiency and employee experience
- Contribute to broader People & Culture initiatives and projects as needed.
What You Bring
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of HR experience supporting both unionized and non-unionized environments, ideally within a non-profit or community services setting
- Strong knowledge of employment standards, human rights, privacy legislation, and regulatory requirements (e.g., BC Employment Standards Act, WorkSafeBC)
- Proven ability to provide strategic HR advice and guidance to leaders, balancing organizational objectives with employee needs
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a high level of discretion and the ability to build trust across all levels of the organization
- Experience leveraging HRIS systems (e.g., UKG Ready) and Microsoft Office to inform decision-making and improve HR processes
