A well‑established organization operating within a project‑driven environment is seeking a Payroll Administrator to provide additional support during a busy period. This is a short‑term contract prospect for an experienced payroll professional who is comfortable working onsite and supporting payroll operations tied to project‑based cost allocation.
Your New Role
As the Payroll Administrator, you will provide hands‑on support to the payroll function, focusing on bi‑weekly payroll processing, timesheet validation, and payroll accuracy across multiple provinces. Working closely with Finance and HR, you will support payroll activities where employee time and labour costs are allocated to specific projects or job codes.
This role is fully onsite, Monday to Friday, and is best suited for someone who can step in quickly, work independently, and ensure payroll runs smoothly during the contract period.
Key Responsibilities
- Support bi‑weekly payroll processing for a workforce of approximately 190 employees
- Review and validate timesheets for hourly and salaried employees, including overtime and reimbursements
- Allocate payroll costs accurately to projects or job codes in line with project accounting requirements
- Ensure payroll data accuracy across multiple provinces (BC, Alberta, Ontario)
- Support payroll adjustments, corrections, and reconciliations as required
- Work within the payroll system (Dayforce) to process payroll changes and updates
- Partner closely with Finance and HR to resolve payroll-related inquiries
- Assist with documentation, process adherence, and ensuring payroll compliance during the contract period
What You’ll Need to Succeed
- 3–6 years of Canadian payroll experience
- Hands‑on experience supporting project‑based or job‑costed payroll environments
- Robust understanding of payroll fundamentals, including deductions, overtime, and reimbursements
- Experience processing bi‑weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees
- Exposure to multi‑province payroll (AB, ON & BC)
- Familiarity with payroll systems (Dayforce experience preferred)
- High attention to detail and ability to work independently onsite
- Strong communication skills and comfort working cross‑functionally with Finance and HR
Nice to Have:
- Payroll certification (PCP or equivalent)
