Overview
The Day Home Consultant provides agency support to day home educators in providing trustworthy, well-rounded childcare that prioritizes all aspects of development. This role involves home approvals, mentorship, and support visits with educators in their home on a regular basis to ensure Government of Alberta and Agency standards met.
Note: This position is eligible for the Alberta government wage top up funding for Early Childhood Educators.
WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR
- Conduct regular scheduled and unscheduled home visits with Day Home Educators to provide support, guidance, and mentorship, following the Family Day Home Standards for Alberta
- Conduct in-home inspections to monitor programs for compliance with Ministry and Agency standards
- Support Educators in maintaining compliance of standards and ensuring a safe and caring environment for children in their care
- Implement necessary actions required to remedy non-compliances in a timely manner, in consultation with the Supervisor, Day Homes
- Assist Educators in arranging back-up care for clients
- Provide support and resource materials to Educators
- Assist with programming for children
- Identify and implement individual Educator training plans
- Support and monitor individual progress of Educator, documenting Educator feedback/input on visit reports
- Assist with matching client families and Educators
- Update and maintain all Databases, contact logs, and tracking tools, to ensure they are current and accurate
- Maintain Educator files and Government Portal
- Maintain personal records (e.g., hours and mileage, expenses, etc.)
- Facilitate training opportunities for Educators and clients through workshops and in- home training
- Provide appropriate resources to Educators
- Plan monthly schedule of home visits
- Provide input on programs, policies, and goals for the Agency
- Provide feedback to client families on the developmental progress of their children and the status of their child’s care in the home
- Liaise between agency staff, educators, and client families
- Represent Agency at public functions, as required
- Publish monthly newsletters and distribute newsletters
- Meet regularly with Day Homes team
- Provide and request feedback from Day Homes team on areas like planning, issue resolution, and program development
- Regularly communicate and provide updates to the Day Homes team and Supervisor, Day Homes
- Share resources and materials with Day Homes team
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor, Day Homes
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Early Childhood Educator, Level 2 or Level 3
- A post-secondary diploma / degree in a related field would be preferred
- 5 years’ related experience working in childcare
- Alberta Health Services Food Safety and Sanitation an asset
- Complete knowledge and proficiency in the Educator and Client Handbooks, current Alberta Day Home Standards, and Radiance Family Day Homes Policy and Procedures
- Childcare Expertise: Proficient in providing trustworthy, inclusive, regulated, and caring home-based programs
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 356 Suite, including: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Email
- Knowledge of Trauma-Informed Care and proven skills to work with vulnerable population are required
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to lead change and adapt in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment
- Ability to support and develop clients
- Must have a cheerful outlook and be amiable
- Excellent interpersonal, relationship building and communication skills
- Effective time and task management, organizational skills and detail oriented
- Safety conscious with keen observational skills
- Collaborative team player who can also work independently and engage professionally with colleagues, clients, and the public
MANDATORY JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Clear Police Security Check with Vulnerable Sector Check & Transparent Child Intervention Check to be maintained
- Valid First Aid certificate including infant and child CPR
- Regular and consistent access to a reliable vehicle for company use
- Must have a valid Alberta Driver’s license and be able to maintain $2 million Vehicle Liability Insurance and must provide clear drivers abstract
- Standing, bending, crouching, and lifting required (up to 30lbs)
- Mon – Fri: 8:30am – 4:30pm and available during Educators’ Day home hours to conduct visits including evenings and weekends
- This role is eligible for Hybrid Remote work

Pay: $33,570.00-$39,600.00 per year
