Sturgeon Public Schools is seeking an Application Coordinator to provide leadership and operational oversight of key administrative and instructional applications that support schools and Central Office operations, with a significant emphasis on the Student Information Systems as a critical divisional platform.
Reporting to the Director, Technology and Logistics, this leadership role within Technology Services is responsible for ensuring the Division’s core administrative applications, including the PowerSchool Student Information System, are reliable, secure, well-supported, and aligned with divisional priorities. The Application Coordinator supervises application support staff and acts as a key liaison between schools, Central Office departments, vendors, and the Technology team to support effective and consistent system use across the Division.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Provide leadership and operational oversight for divisional applications, with the PowerSchool Student Information System and related student systems serving as core platforms, along with other administrative and operational applications
- Ensure applications are stable, secure, and functioning as designed through configuration, updates, patches, and enhancements
- Monitor application performance and proactively identify risks, issues, and opportunities for improvement
- Act as the escalation point for complex application-related incidents and operational concerns
- Supervise, mentor, and support application support staff, establishing clear expectations, priorities, and workflows
- Coordinate and deliver training and support for school-based staff, Central Office teams, and Technology Services staff
- Ensure accurate, current, and accessible system documentation to support operational continuity and reduce reliance on individual knowledge
- Support student information data integrity, privacy, and legislative compliance by ensuring appropriate system configurations, access controls, and workflows
- Identify and communicate data integrity risks revealed through system behaviour or reporting, working with appropriate stakeholders
- Coordinate reporting and contribute to system planning, process improvement, and application lifecycle initiatives
- Serve as a delegate for the Director, Technology and Logistics when required, providing leadership continuity and operational decision-making
What You Bring:
- Post-secondary education in Information Technology, Information Systems, Business, Education Technology, or a related field
- Experience supporting and administering student information systems, including PowerSchool, is required. Experience with related systems such as SchoolEngage and Clevr is considered an asset.
- Significant experience supporting and administering enterprise or educational software systems
- Experience leading, supervising, or coordinating technical or application support staff
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear, practical guidance
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Experience working in a public-sector or education environment is an asset
- Knowledge of data governance, privacy legislation, and system integrations is preferred
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders in a changing environment
