Position Overview:
The Accountant will be responsible for the full accounting cycle of the restaurant and lounge. This role requires a professional who understands the unique financial landscape of the hospitality industry, including food cost analysis, high-volume transactions, and payroll for a large service staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Accounts Payable/Receivable: Manage vendor payments, reconcile invoices, and oversee daily cash deposits.
Payroll Administration: Process bi-weekly payroll for a diverse team, including tip tracking and CRA statutory deductions (CPP, EI, Income Tax).
Tax Compliance: Prepare and file GST and PST returns accurately and on time.
Reconciliation: Perform daily bank and credit card reconciliations for high-volume transactions.
Cost Analysis: Monitor food and beverage costs (COGS), labor costs, and operational expenses to provide insights for management.
Year-End Support: Prepare files for year-end review and liaise with external auditors or tax professionals.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Accounting or Finance.
1+ years of full-cycle accounting experience (Hospitality or Retail industry experience is a strong asset).
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and restaurant POS reporting.
Advanced knowledge of MS Excel.
Strong understanding of Canadian accounting principles and Saskatchewan labor laws.
High attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines.
Excellent communication skills to collaborate with restaurant management.
