Under the limited supervision of the Program Manager, Surgical Suite or designate, the Administrative Support IV assists primarily with the scheduling of physicians and provides support for the O.R. management team. The Administrative Support IV exercises independent judgement through extensive knowledge of the department and procedures. The successful candidate must possess the ability to follow written procedures and verbal instructions. The ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality is essential. Good interpersonal and communication skills are required. Reliability and a neat appearance are also significant.
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the effective flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Successful completion of a recognized Clerk / Admin. course required. Must have medical terminology and three (3) years working in a surgical environment. Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail in assigned duties. Extensive computer experience required. Ability to cope with frequent interruptions.
