Day in the Life
As a Road Maintenance Labourer, you will become familiar with the highway network while maintaining provincial highway infrastructure. Duties include repairing potholes and guardrails, installing small signs, repairing end treatments, and removing debris. You will safely operate and maintain equipment such as loaders, backhoes, excavators, chainsaws, lawn tractors, hand and power tools, and pick up trucks in accordance with contract requirements.
Solid organizational skills are required to complete accurate documentation, including daily equipment inspections, traffic control plans, utility locates, work records, and hours of service. You will also respond to call in requirements during accidents and highway closures, assisting with traffic control set up and take down at work zones and incident scenes.
