Description
The Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering in the Schulich School of Engineering invites applications for a Research Associate. This Full time Fixed Term position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of an additional 24 month extension.
This position reports to the Primary Investigator and the primary purpose of this position is to investigate geodata modeling for space information systems. Most work will be computer based, travel may be required to participate in workshops and conferences.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
Job functions include but are not limited to:
Foundational conceptual models for space information systems
Implementation of developed conceptual models through case studies
Journal and conference publications
Develop conceptual models that will be foundational for creating planetary spatial data infrastructures.
Collaborate with the principal investigator and project team members on analyzing, interpreting, and data for publication in top tier journals.
Be expected to identify emerging research opportunities and assist in the completion of grant applications, reporting, and project administration, as required.
Support project reporting, and dissemination of research outcomes to diverse audiences.
Contribute to maintaining a secure, inclusive, and cooperative lab culture, consistent with University and Faculty values.
Qualifications / Requirements
PhD in Geomatics Engineering, required
At least 6 years of experience in 3D geodata modeling and data transformation, required
High level academic record and a competitive publication list (i.e., at least 10 article publications in recognized journals), required
Demonstrated expertise in 3D modeling for space setting and objects, required
Strong background on spatial data infrastructure and related geospatial data standards and their implementation within space environment
Proficiency on 3D geodata standards such as CityGML/CityJSON/3D Tiles
In

depth knowledge of 3D modeling of logical spaces such as volumes for surface and subsurface
Excellent oral and written communication skills, especially in scientific writing
Demonstrated experience in leading scientific production, such as sole author publications
