Position Overview
\nDirectly accountable to the Manager of Recreation, the Recreation Facilitator provides resident centered opportunities for participation in recreation and leisure activities, in order to meet the residents’ physical, emotional, intellectual, social and spiritual needs. The Recreation Facilitator in conjunction with the resident and family sets individualized goals for the resident, helping them find meaning through leisure and recreation activities by promoting optimism, health and personal growth, and independence in leisure, thereby enhancing their quality of life.\nThe recreation facilitator conducts initial and ongoing assessments, develops intervention plans, documents changes in clients’ progress and evaluates results to determine if the clients’ goals and objectives were achieved. The recreation facilitator uses their knowledge of current trends, research, and practices in recreation and leisure services to develop appropriate and meaningful programs for residents with diverse needs and abilities. Performs all duties in accordance with established Health and Safety regulations/guidelines, and policies and procedures.\n

\nThis position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.\nPlease note that an employee is not permitted to hold two or more positions across the WRHA legal entity that combine to equal more than 1.0 EFT. The WRHA legal entity includes Churchill Health Centre, Deer Lodge Centre, Golden West Centennial Lodge, Grace Hospital, Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, Pan Am Clinic, River Park Gardens, Victoria General Hospital, WRHA corporate programs, and WRHA community health services.\n
