POSITION PURPOSE Reporting to an experienced paramedic preceptor, you will be participating in York Region’s premier field placement site for paramedics. PCP Pathways is a field placement program designed by paramedics, for paramedics with the intention of helping you to be as prepared as possible when it comes time to start your paramedic career. BENEFITS TO STUDENT Complete your preceptorship in one of the biggest and busiest paramedic services in the province Gain base hospital educational certification to practice at the PCP scope Participate in Pathways Mentors, a mentorship program to help support you from the beginning of your ride outs until you transition into independent practice Learn about various units and teams within York Region Paramedic Services, including our Special Response Unit and Community Paramedicine Unit Gain familiarity with ambulance operation by spending time with our ministry‑certified driver trainers MAJOR RESPONSIBLITIES Learn how to handle real‑life emergency situations in the pre‑hospital environment Attend 12‑hour shifts on an ambulance, as often as permitted by college schedules Participate in “Pathways Rotational Blocks” (typically one additional educational commitment monthly) Maintain all certification requirements Complete administrative duties as required for timekeeping QUALIFICATIONS Currently enrolled on a full‑time basis in a post‑secondary paramedic program at an Ontario college Valid Ontario Class “G” licence as of May 1, 2026 Valid Standard First Aid and Basic Life Support credentials APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS STEPS STEP 1: Submission of Application – closing May 5, :59 PM EST STEP 2: Written Test – Week of May 11, 2026 STEP 3: Multiple Mini Interviews – Week of May 25, 2026 STEP 4: Colleges Notified – Week of June 8, 2026 STEP 5: Student Orientation – Beginning as soon as August 2026 STEP 6: Documentation Submitted – Deadline September 18, 2026 STEP 7: Preceptorship – First Shift September/October 2026 – TBD Application package must include: Applicant Information Form Resume in the provided template format Personal Statement with a maximum of 500 words Letter of Recommendation, from a Professional or Extra‑Curricular Reference (not an Academic Reference) EEO STATEMENT York Region is an equal prospect employer committed to an inclusive, barrier‑free recruitment and selection process.
