The City of Corner Brook is presently accepting applications for the full time position of Pool Operator Assistant/Maintenance with the Department of Recreation Services. The ideal candidate will have flexibility to work evenings and weekends on an as required basis.
As a member of the Recreation Services Team, you will focus on assisting with preventative maintenance, building equipment maintenance, pool maintenance and minor cleaning, while ensuring a safe, fully functioning environment for staff and the public. As the ideal candidate you will have experience working around mechanical equipment and interacting with the general public. You enjoy paying attention to detail and seeing the importance of getting the small details right and how those details relate to customer satisfaction. You will assist with the setting up and tearing down of events, ad hoc janitorial duties, and minor landscape maintenance, as necessary.
To be successful in this position you need to be a team player who enjoys public interacting. You will have a clear code of conduct and vulnerable sector screening. You will have the ability to both sit and walk for extended periods of time and on occasion, lift up to 50lbs. You will have the ability to work a 12

hour shift, which includes weekdays, weekends, evenings and holidays. The working environment varies and will consist of an office setting, a warm pool deck, mechanical room, and outdoors.
The successful applicant must have two years of relevant work experience and hold a valid Certified Pool Operator’s Certificate or be willing to obtain. This position requires the candidate to be proficient in computers and computerized systems as well as hands on experience working with hand tools and performing repairs. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills as customer communication and satisfaction are priority. Experience working in a recreation and/or aquatics facility is an asset. A valid class 5 NL drivers license is a requirement. Experience in water testing would be an asset.
