Job Overview
Position: Medical Laboratory Technologist. The role involves performing analytical tests and procedures offered by the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, using appropriate methodologies and quality assurance techniques in both clinical and environmental laboratories.
Responsibilities
Perform laboratory tests with a variety of steps and variables according to established protocols and work with little or no supervision, including emergency and weekend/night situations. Operate instruments that are often computer integrated and networked, use computerized information systems, compare test results to pre‑established criteria, and make decisions regarding reportability of results. Exercise independent judgment, handle stressful working conditions, and communicate effectively and professionally while maintaining patient confidentiality.
Qualifications
Graduate from an approved program in Medical Laboratory Technologist.
Licensed with NSRMLS or eligible.
Registered with CSMLS.
Ability to work shift work (weekends and holidays as required).
Willingness to travel when required.
Competencies in other languages an asset; French preferred.
Hours & Compensation
Permanent full‑time position; 75 hours biweekly.
Hourly pay: $33.20 – $42.47.
