Required Experience

time Mechanic II. This position reports to the Mechanic III or in his absence the Manager of Works.
\n
This position is responsible for conducting all fleet and small equipment maintenance for the Town of Whitecourt. Applicants must be prepared to work overtime and be on call as required.
\n
Key duties will include:
\n· Coordinate all preventative maintenance (servicing).\n
· Perform maintenance and servicing on all Town equipment.
\n
· Maintain the mechanic’s workspace in a neat and orderly condition.
\n
· Assist in the preparation of the shop maintenance budget.
\n
· Assist with the maintenance of the shop building and yard facilities.
\n
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
\n
· Must be a qualified and licensed Automotive Mechanic or Heavy Duty Mechanic.
\n
· Must possess a valid Class 3 Driver’s license with Q endorsement.
\n
· Ability to weld and fabricate
\n
· General knowledge of repair and maintenance of industrial equipment, automotive, equipment for municipal, grounds maintenance and other related small equipment.
\n
· Must have demonstrated knowledge and related experience of equipment maintenance programs and parts inventory systems.
\n
Physical Demands and Work Conditions for this position include:
\n
· Frequent lifting of materials up to 66 lbs.
\n
· Standing, forward bending, trunk rotation, reaching above shoulder level and crouching is required
\n
· Repetitive movements like tire install, removing parts and moving portable hoist
\n
· Climbing (stairs/ladders) when working on large equipment
\n
· Tasks are performed on concrete and uneven surfaces
\n
