Position Details

Employment Type: suppression and suppression operations. The incumbent is responsible for the management and supervision of the Regional Area Fire Managers, and overseeing operations within the assigned Fire Management Areas from a regional perspective. The Regional FOM is one of two primary Regional Duty Officers (RDO) for the region on a seasonal, rotational basis.

As the RDO, The Regional FOM is responsible for the procurement of all goods and services to support regional wildfire operations, coordination of resource movement within, and at times, outside the province, and is responsible for the prioritization, strategic deployment and cost effective use of all assigned resources. The Regional FOM manages the work of various staff, committees, and working groups to ensure the strategic and operational goals and objectives of the branch are met, including the development of branch policies and procedures. The Regional FOM works closely with stakeholder groups, indigenous communities and other levels of government to meet common goals related to reducing the risk of wildfire.

As a key member of the branch management team, The Regional FOM provides strategic advice and support to the RWS, and in their absence, the Director, and/or ADM regarding operational issues.
