Overview The six physicians of Vancouver Island's West Coast are looking to recruit a physician to join our highly rewarding, multi‑clinic group practice. We provide longitudinal full‑scope primary care services to residents of the West Coast via multiple clinics – Ahousat Medical Clinic, Tonquin Medical Center (Tofino), Ucluelet Medical Center, Hitacu Health Center, and Ty Histanis Health Center – as well as emergency room and inpatient care at Tofino General Hospital. Clinics are well‑established with a fully integrated EMR.

We typically work 3‑4 clinic days per week and approximately 6‑8 on‑call shifts per month at the hospital, a ten‑bed acute care facility that serves as a UBC Island Medical School teaching site. We seek a physician who can work across multiple clinics and embraces our core values of collaboration, diversity, and cultural safety. The practice offers excellent nursing and ancillary health support (rehab, MSHU, Home & Community Care) from Island Health, Nuu chah nulth (NTC) Health Services, and other community partners, and fosters robust relationships with local communities, including First Nations communities via the FNHA Primary Care Initiative.

Qualifications

Previous rural and First Nations medical experience and a commitment to rural excellence are desirable.

Benefits Recruitment Incentive – $20,000 Relocation up to $15,000 Fee Premium – 16.28 % Annual Flat Fee – $25,221.60 Rural CME starting at $1,320 for up to two years, then increasing to $3,520 / annum in years 3 and 4, and to a maximum of $5,720 / annum after four years Amounts are subject to change.
