Learning Services Central Services 1.0 FTE First Nations, Métis & Inuit Learning Services focus Commencing August 24, 2026 The Coordinator for First Nations, Métis & Inuit Learning Services will provide both leadership and support as part of a collaborative team to effectively meet the needs of students with diverse learning profiles. Responsibilities And Expectations Providing Division leadership in improving educational outcomes and creating opportunities for Indigenous students in our schools by building staff capacity, engaging learners, and building paths toward reconciliation through education. Supporting staff in their ability to apply foundational knowledge about First Nations, Métis and Inuit as required in the Teaching Quality Standard. Collaboratively planning instruction, assessment, and developing and acquiring resources for the implementation of current curricula. Participating in Alberta Education curriculum working groups. Working collaboratively with other provincial school divisions’ coordinators. Building relationships and working collaboratively with community partners. Build relationships with Elders, Knowledge Keepers and Indigenous Organizations. Desirable Qualifications Strong instructional leadership capabilities. Successful teaching experience across a broad level of grades. Strong cultural awareness, educational background, and experience with weaving Indigenous knowledge systems into practice. Exceptional understanding of First Nations, Métis and Inuit histories, perspectives, and ways of knowing. Experience and interest in working collaboratively with colleagues to improve learning outcomes for First Nations, Métis and Inuit students. Strong interpersonal skills. Knowledge and experience in using technology to support teaching and assessment. Applicants must have or be eligible for an Alberta Professional Teaching certificate.
