Adult Outpatient, Mental Health & Addictions, the Community Outreach Worker provides a range of clinical services to adults and their families affected mental and substance use disorders.

The Community Outreach
\n
Worker may be working in both clinic and community settings providing a wide range of services including screening, assessment, brief intervention, case management/navigation, individual and group treatment. This position will play a key role in navigation, advocacy, and the coordination of resources and services within Mental Health and Addictions and the community. They must be knowledgeable and use evidence based psychosocial interventions (e.g.
\n
MI, SRP, CBT), principles of harm reduction, and community development. They will serve as a resource to colleagues, clients and family members and will create and enrich linkages with organizations and agencies within their community.

About You
\n
We would love to hear from you if you have the following: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work
\n
Registered with relevant regulatory body Nova Scotia College of Social Workers
\n
One (1) year post BSW experience in community outreach, group facilitation, early/ brief intervention, and community development
\n
Knowledge regarding the principles of community health, outreach, harm reduction, health promotion and prevention (e.g., mental health, addictions, housing support etc.)
\n
High level oral, written and group facilitation skills along with excellent problem

Annually access the training and education on patient, client and personal safety made available by Nova Scotia Health
\n
Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation where travel will be required
\n
Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
\n
Minimum one (1) year of experience required. If not available, candidates with less than one (1) year of experience may be considered for the selection process. If offered employment, they will be placed on the Community Outreach Worker (Developmental) scale.
