Responsibilities
Under the general direction of the Manager of Development Services, this position is accountable for providing technical building, engineering, and planning assistance in administering the regulatory functions of the Planning & Protective Services Division and for supplying technical support, relative to the creation, interpretation and application of technical data, engineering drawings and development proposals.
Qualifications: Successful completion of a Civil Engineering Technology Diploma Program is required. A CET or a P.
Tech Designation would be considered an asset.
Two (2) years experience in a similar or related position is required.
Demonstrated ability to deal with the public, contractors and officials of agencies and departments of government at all levels with tact and diplomacy.
Detailed knowledge of the National Building Code of Canada.
Working knowledge of standards relative to minor engineering works.
Ability to use CAD software and equipment.
Ability to set/check building grades using surveyor''s level.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with specific emphasis on the ability to develop detailed reports and proposals in a skilled manner.
Knowledge of the building construction industry codes and engineering/ planning standards and the related legal process is desirable.
This is a unionized position working 35 hours per week.
The salary for this position is based on an annual salary of $76,650.87 as per the Collective Agreement.
