Required Experience

secondary certificate or diploma preferably a Human Services Worker Program certificate or related discipline. Preference will be given to those with course work in child/adolescent development, behaviour management, first aid, Autism or other related disciplines. Equivalency will be considered for those with 2+ years of experience providing student support in an structured environment.;\n
experience working with children or youth in a structured environment; commitment to the pursuit of continual learning and recertification as required; French language proficiency if assigned to a French Immersion classroom; ability to model language on communication systems at a child's level; valid Class 5 B.C. driver's license and license appropriate to the type of equipment/vehicle being operated and a personal vehicle available for use on the job is preferred; ability to work effectively with staff and students; willingness to provide curriculum support to students in academic and elective classes such as shop, cooking, physical education, if assigned by the supervisor; willingness to work in an inclusionary setting supporting differentiated instruction with adapted and modified curriculum; meets the physical requirements of the position including lifting, bending, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds if assigned to a physically
