Position OverviewThe Account Manager â Employee Benefits is responsible for managing and growing relationships with Indigenous organizations, including First Nations, MĂŠtis, and Inuit communities. This role combines account management, business development, and client advisory services, ensuring benefit programs are effectively implemented, supported, and aligned with the unique needs of Indigenous employers and their members.The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day management of existing benefit programs while identifying opportunities to expand services and support recent clients through relationship-driven sales and lead generation.
Key Responsibilities
Client Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary contact for Indigenous employer groups regarding employee benefit plans.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community leadership, administrators, and decision-makers.
- Conduct regular client meetings to review plan performance, utilization trends, and program enhancements.
- Provide ongoing support with claims, plan changes, renewals, and employee communication.
Benefits Plan Management
- Oversee day-to-day administration and servicing of group benefit plans.
- Coordinate with insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and internal teams to resolve issues and ensure service excellence.
- Monitor plan utilization and provide strategic recommendations to optimize plan design and cost sustainability.
- Support annual renewal processes, reporting, and plan updates.
Business Development & Lead Generation
- Identify and pursue opportunities to expand employee benefits services within Indigenous communities and organizations.
- Develop new client relationships through networking, referrals, community engagement, and industry events.
- Participate in proposal development, presentations, and onboarding of new clients.
- Maintain an active pipeline of prospective opportunities.
Community Engagement
- Build trusted relationships with Indigenous communities and organizations.
- Participate in Indigenous business events, conferences, and networking opportunities.
- Support initiatives that enhance access to culturally relevant employee benefits programs.
Qualifications
- Experience in group employee benefits, insurance, or financial services preferred.
- Strong understanding of benefits plan design, administration, and renewals.
- Proven ability in relationship management and consultative sales.
- Experience working with Indigenous organizations or communities is a strong asset.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple client relationships.
