Position Overview
The City of North Vancouver is the urban core of the beautiful North Shore and has a long-term vision to be “The Healthiest Small City in the World”, with five key priorities to be a City for People, a Resilient City, a Vibrant City, a Connected City and a Prosperous City.
The Infrastructure, Transportation & Parks department requires one regular Full time Pipefitter – Layer (Water).
Responsibilities
Your role will be diverse as you will perform skilled pipe laying work according to plans, line and grade; locate underground utilities; perform shoring duties in excavations and direct the work of one or more Labourers. You will also be required to drive a service truck and respond to emergency and trouble calls.
Requirements
A minimum of two years related experience in water utility systems and a thorough knowledge of the methods, practices, procedures and materials, tools and equipment used in water operations, maintenance and construction is required. You will have a valid Class 5 BC Drivers’ License (prior to selection, applicants will be required to produce their driving record). You will have completed Grade 12, supplemented by courses leading to certification in Water distribution 1 within the Environmental Operators Certification Program (EOCP). You must be able to deal effectively with the public and embrace values such as teamwork, respect, a positive attitude, professionalism and integrity. You should also have demonstrated ability to direct the work of others.
Compensation
$35.48 per hour
(January 2024 rates)
Hours of Work
7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday to Friday
