Girl Guides of Canada is actively seeking a Camp Peaceful Water Manager
Weekends when there is rentals from May 15th through to September 7th 2026

About This Opportunity
Reporting to the Property Chair or rentals manager, you will be responsible for checking in and out rentals and any issues that may come up on the property within the GGC guidelines. The applicant is also responsible for waterfront activities if certified.
Position Specifics
One Week Prior to Camp:
- Connect with the Property Chair or rentals manager to see what sites are booked, group sizes and Contact Guider information.
- On Friday, before leaving for camp, check for any fire bans on: http://www.sopfeu.qc.ca/en/
Friday Afternoon/Evening:
- Meet and greet each group using Camp Peaceful Waters for the weekend:
- Guiders can use one car per site to carefully transport luggage to their site while respecting the speed limit.
- Control flow of traffic to the sites as per Responsible Guider (RG) guidelines (as per Secure Guide).
- Orient the group to the site, review basic rules and routines.
- Discuss with RGs scheduling of common space activities (this will include preferred swim & boat times if available, possible use of central campfire site, schedule for hiking to the bluff and check out time for Sunday).
- Supply RG on each site with the Departure Checklist and schedule your pre-departure visit time.
- Inform groups of any fire restrictions or other special circumstances that could impact their stay.
- Verify/distribute nylon tents to sites requesting and remind campers of pitching and care guidelines. (Nylon tents should be pitched on the platforms or with a footprint.)
- If you are not qualified for waterfront duties, when waterfront staff arrive, review waterfront schedule and communicate final times to the groups. If waterfront staff are not arriving until Saturday morning, set the schedule and advise the waterfront upon arrival.
Throughout the Weekend:
- Be available to groups and waterfront staff at all times to assist in enacting GGC protocol.
- Be available to provide access to equipment, and to help troubleshoot smaller issues – blocked toilets, tent problems, water supply issues, etc. (Some issues could require you contacting the camp caretaker.)
- Ensure (as much as possible) that main buildings are used appropriately and respectfully by all groups.
- Monitor any unexpected traffic on the site over the course of the weekend.
Sunday Afternoon:
- Check out groups as they leave, ensuring that the group has followed the Departure Checklist and remind them to bring their garbage, recycling and compost to the respective containers at gate 3.
- Ensure that NO FOOD is left in any buildings - including fridges and freezers.
- Return borrowed tents to the equipment shed.
- Note any new damage needing repairs and follow-up with the Property Chair. For any damage that poses a safety risk, restrict access to the area.
- Ensure that waterfront staff has tidied the boathouse and cleared the waterfront of all equipment and that any boats being left outside have been locked up.
- Prior to leaving, verify that everyone has left their sites. Lock all sites, buildings, gate 3 (Stavert gate) and gate to upper sites from upper parking lot.
- Return all site building keys to the equipment room before departure.
General Information:
- Accommodation for the Site Manager is at Cherokee or Dragon Fly if you are waterfront staff. This includes a bathroom with shower, small fridge, kitchen sink.
- You are responsible for your own meals. These can be prepared in the Food Building.
- There is no internet access at camp although cell phones do work in most locations.
- It is not the responsibility of the Site Manager to provide programming or to count as ratio.
- Camp First Aid kits are not for use on rented sites, they should stay in the equipment shed.
- Extra wool blankets and sleeping bags can be lent to units and are available at Stavert Lodge.
- Any weekend emergencies should be referred to the Property Committee – Chair or rentals manager if they are not available.
General
- Adheres to all relevant policies, procedures, and practices.
- Provide general, ongoing support to members/volunteers, responding to/directing inquiries and consulting with the appropriate groups and individuals to support the mission and vision of GGC.
- Apply organizational policies regarding diversity, inclusivity and equity to content, member communication and customer service.
- Other duties as assigned.
