Position: Housekeeping Aide (2 Positions)
Location: Meadow Ridge Seniors Village
FTE: 0.70
Hours of Work: 0700-1500
Shift Rotation: 7 out of 14 days
JOB SUMMARY: As a valued interdisciplinary team member, the Housekeeping Aide, under the direction of the Site Leader, performs general cleaning duties in the Park Place Home, including the cleaning of Residents’ rooms, bathrooms, staff rooms, offices and other areas as assigned. Follows all relevant Park Place policies including infection prevention and control, WHMIS and quality improvement. Treats Residents with dignity and demonstrates an attitude of caring. The Housekeeping Aide ensures a commitment to Resident safety and to our “culture of safety” as per Park Place Strategic Directions.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Vacuums, dry mop, and wet mops all floors, Strips, refinishes, and polishes floors.
- Cleans bathroom, commodes, lifts, and other equipment as assigned.
- Performs daily, routine, and terminal cleaning of Resident rooms including disinfecting beds and turning/flipping mattresses, cleaning of windows and blinds/curtains.
- Ensures housekeeping equipment is clean and reports any equipment needing repair to Housekeeping Supervisor and/or Maintenance.
- Ensures housekeeping equipment is clean and reports any equipment needing repair.
- Checks and restocks housekeeping supplies.
- Maintains a safe environment for Residents, significant others, and employees by adhering to established safety policies, standards and procedures including emergency procedures and infection control guidelines.
- Understand and follows Park Place Infection, Prevention and Control policies and procedures and Universal Precautions in handling bodily fluids.
- Responsible for cleaning job duties and signing off on completed scheduled work as per site procedures.
- Checks and restocks housekeeping supplies. Reporting when supplies are low.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible to read, understand and comply with Park Place’s and provincially mandated Occupational Health and Safety policies and protected work practices.
- Uses safe work procedures.
- Promotes health and safety and awareness.
- Makes safety suggestions.
- Reads OHS minutes posted.
- Responsible to take every reasonable precaution to protect the safety of the residents, self, other workers and the public.
- Reports any near miss, injury, accident, or equipment damage to supervisor immediately and
• Corrects and/or reports unsafe conditions
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Grade 8
- Facility cleaning experience an asset
- Equivalences may be considered
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operates related equipment
- Lifts a maximum of 50 lbs., frequent lifting and/or carrying of 20 lbs.
