Who We Are: Ktunaxa Kinbasket Child & Family Services (KKCFSS) is a non-profit Indigenous Child and Family Service Agency governed by a Board of Directors represented by ʔakisqnuk, ʔaqam, yaqan nuʔkiy (Lower Kootenay Band), yaqit ʔa·knuqⱡiʾit (Tobacco Plains Band), Shuswap Band and the Métis Nation BC. KKCFSS programs and services are available to Ktunaxa citizens, First Nations, Métis and Inuit living on and off-reserve in Ktunaxa ʔamakʔis (Traditional Territory).

The Prospect: We are looking for a strong, grounded leader to step into the role of Director of Prevention Services. This is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing all prevention-focused programming across the agency.
This role requires someone who can move between strategy and execution. You will be responsible for setting direction, while also ensuring programs are delivered effectively, teams are supported, and priorities are followed through.
You will lead a diverse portfolio that includes early years, family support, mental health, youth programming, and culturally based services, ensuring they are responsive, consistent, and aligned with community needs.
In the Role as Director of Prevention Services:
You will play a key role in shaping how prevention services are delivered across the agency, ensuring programs are culturally grounded, responsive to community needs, and consistently delivered at a high standard.
Working closely with Team Leads, community partners, and leadership, you will:
- Provide overall leadership and direction for Prevention Services programs, ensuring alignment with agency priorities and community needs
- Lead and support Team Leads by setting clear expectations, providing guidance, and ensuring consistent, high-quality service delivery across teams
- Develop and implement strategic and operational plans, ensuring priorities are carried through and translated into meaningful outcomes
- Ensure programs reflect Indigenous values, practices, and ways of knowing, while remaining responsive to the needs of children, youth, and families
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with Nations, schools, health providers, and community partners to support coordinated service delivery
- Represent KKCFSS at community, regional, and provincial tables, contributing to broader discussions around prevention and family wellness
- Ensure programs meet legislative, policy, and funding requirements, while maintaining a focus on quality and continuous improvement
- Use data, feedback, and program evaluation to identify gaps, strengthen services, and support informed decision-making
- Foster a team environment grounded in respect, collaboration, and shared responsibility
What You Will Bring to the Role:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services field OR Bachelor’s Degree with a Major/Honors in a Human Services field OR Master’s level graduate Certificate/Diploma in a Human Services field AFTER the completion of an unrelated Bachelor’s Degree.
- 5–10 years of progressive experience, including leadership within social services
- Experience overseeing or supporting prevention, family wellness, or early intervention programs
- Experience working with Indigenous communities and organizations is strongly preferred
- Human Services fields include: Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Anthropology, Early Childhood Education, Indigenous Studies, Education, Theology or Nursing.
