Hiring Generator Technicians (On-Site) in Ontario

About the Role
We are seeking skilled and reliable Generator Technicians to join one of our reputable clients' teams in Ontario. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of diesel, natural gas, and propane-powered generator systems.
This is a hands-on, field-based position requiring strong technical expertise and a commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. You will play a critical role in ensuring power systems operate efficiently and reliably for a range of clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission, and decommission standby and prime power generator systems
- Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and load bank testing
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and control system issues
- Troubleshoot engines, alternators, fuel systems, cooling systems, exhaust, and starting systems
- Conduct electrical testing (voltage, current, continuity, etc.)
- Repair or replace components, including starters, alternators, batteries, controllers, and sensors
- Complete detailed service reports and maintenance documentation
- Ensure compliance with all safety standards, codes, and environmental regulations
- Communicate technical findings and recommendations to customers and internal teams
- Respond to emergency service calls, including after-hours/on-call rotations
- Maintain tools, service vehicles, and parts inventory
Qualifications & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Technical diploma, trade certification, or apprenticeship (preferred)
- Minimum 2+ years of experience working with generators, diesel engines, or heavy equipment
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Manufacturer certifications (e.g., Cummins, CAT, Generac) are considered an asset

- Basic computer proficiency for reporting and diagnostics

Working Conditions
- Field-based role with regular travel to customer sites across Ontario
- Exposure to noise, weather conditions, and mechanical/electrical systems
- Overtime, weekend work, and on-call availability may be required
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs (23 kg)
- Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and work in confined spaces
- Manual dexterity to operate tools and diagnostic equipment
