Swift Current Funeral Home is seeking a licensed Funeral Director or Funeral Director/Embalmer to join our growing team. As an independently owned and operated funeral home, we are committed to providing professional, compassionate care to the families we serve. Our close-knit team collaborates across all areas of service and participates in a rotating on-call schedule. We would consider a second-year apprentice for this position.
Position Overview
As a Funeral Director, you will play a vital role in supporting families during difficult times by arranging and directing all aspects of funeral services. This includes coordinating ceremonies, managing documentation, and ensuring every service is carried out with dignity and care.
Employment Details

- Schedule: Includes participation in a rotating on-call schedule
Key Qualifications
- Valid Funeral Director’s license
- Demonstrated experience in funeral arrangement and directing services
- Strong understanding of funeral home operations and best practices
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven ability to provide outstanding customer service
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Valid driver’s license
- Embalmer’s license is considered an asset
- We would consider a second-year apprentice for this position
Key Responsibilities
- Arrange, coordinate, and direct funeral services and ceremonies
- Prepare and file all necessary documentation in a timely manner
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records and files
- Manage and update online obituary listings
- Ensure the funeral home and office spaces are clean, organized, and professional
- Build and maintain respectful relationships with families and colleagues
- Provide compassionate support and exceed the expectations of the families we serve
- Actively engage in the community and foster positive relationships
Additional Embalmer Responsibilities
- Care for decedent in a respectful manner.
- Clean and embalm decedent; perform restorations; style hair, apply cosmetics, dress and other preparation as required
- Verify appropriate casket. Dress casket and lay decedent.
- Maintain preparation room, clean soiled equipment, properly dispose of hazardous waste, and promote a safe work environment.
