Overview
Hosted by Health & Social Care Moray on behalf of Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City Health and Social Care Partners, the Out of Hours Primary Care Service (GMED) provides urgent clinical care to the population of Grampian between 18:00â08:00 Monday to Friday, and 24 hours a day at weekends and public holidays.
GMED is recognised as one of the most challenging and complex components of the healthcare system. The service employs over 400 medical, clinical and support staff who collectively deliver essential out of hours care. GMED teams operate from eight sites across the Grampian region, supported centrally by the GMED Dispatching Hub based in Aberdeen.
Clinical activity within GMED is underpinned by the in-hours Business Support and Service Management Team, which is responsible for rota management, quality and risk management, stakeholder engagement, logistics, supply chain, data support and operational administration.
GMED works closely with a wide range of partner services, which is fundamental to ensuring safe, timely and personâcentred urgent care across Grampian.
Role Overview
This role may appeal to a manager who is early in their leadership journey and looking to further develop their skills, or to an experienced manager seeking a current challenge within a agile and unique care environment.
Responsibilities
As the Operations Support Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth, effective and efficient running of GMED operations. You will be responsible for overseeing dayâtoâday service delivery, providing operational leadership to staff, and proactively identifying opportunities for improvement. The post also plays an important role in supporting the Health and Social Care Partnerships to transform urgent care pathways and modernise how out of hours services are delivered across the region.
Location & Travel
The post is based at Aberdeen Health Village. A full driving licence is essential, as the postholder is required to travel regularly to GMED locations across Grampian.
