ABOUT WILLIAMS LAKE FIRST NATION (WLFN)
The Williams Lake First Nation (WLFN), or the T’exelcemc (people of WLFN) have belonged to the Secwepemc (or Shuswap) Nation for over 6500 years. Today, the WLFN community includes a growing population of over 800 registered members who live on reserve in Sugar Cane, in nearby Williams Lake, BC, and across the globe.

POSITION
Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor, the Summer Student will be responsible for assisting the recreation department in organizing and delivering a variety of recreational programs and activities for children, youth, and adults in the community of Williams Lake First Nation. The job will require you to ensure all aspects of the recreational program run smoothly and effectively.
Employment Type
Full-Time Summer Student Term Position – June 30 to August 28, 2026 (35 hours per week).
Probation Period
3 months from the date of hire.
Education Required
- No education minimum required.
Experience Required
- No previous experience required.
- Must be 16 years of age.
Overtime Status
Non-exempt
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the recreation team to organize and implement activities for all age groups.
- Participate in all activities to ensure engagement with all participants.
- Assist with fundraising activities.
- Assist with field trips and other organized activities.
- Assist with setting up and take down of equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge
- Knowledge of recreation activities and organized sports would be an asset.
- Understanding First Nations' history, culture, and language would be an asset.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with robust problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
