Position Summary
Are you interested in an opportunity to grow professionally within a positive and progressive culture? Northern Health is seeking a Financial Accountant, Medical Staff Compensation to join our Finance department.
The Financial Accountant, Medical Staff Compensation, helps to lead the Medical Staff Compensation & Financial Services team. This role manages financial and management reporting, oversees accounting within a complex organization, and ensures medical staff payments follow Ministry of Health policies. It also provides technical support and guidance to the Regional Manager. The Financial Accountant, Medical Staff Compensation ensures all financial transactions have been reflected appropriately and completely in the financial statements and coordinates activities of staff engaged in these functions to ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness; this includes setting processing priorities, deadlines and evaluating required journal entries. This role is responsible for complex funding reconciliations to ensure expenses are reimbursed by the Ministry of Health in accordance with policy and funding agreements. The Financial Accountant, Medical Staff Compensation makes decisions, or provides input, and makes recommendations to the Regional Manager on financial issues as they relate to the policies and operating procedures of Northern Health (NH) and Ministry of Health (MOH). The Financial Accountant, Medical Staff Compensation assists in the development of appropriate internal control systems and financial processes to ensure compliance with established guidelines, such as the CICA Handbook, MIS guidelines, Ministry Policy, etc., and implementing changes as required.
Starting salary will be approximately from $76,111 to $95,138 and will be based on education, training, experience, and salaries of similar positions.
Qualfications
• A professional accounting designation (CPA) plus five (5) years of recent, related experience in accounting in a large organization or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Experience working in a medical or health care environment an asset.
Skills and Abilities:
• Demonstrated ability to manage, plan, problem-solve, organize, and monitor.
• Ability to organize and complete work assignments within deadlines.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills in a team environment.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including the ability to make presentations to groups.
• Ability to work independently.
• Sound understanding of financial management and reporting.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure in a highly dynamic environment subject to continuous change.
• Proficiency in the use of personal computers and computerized financial systems.
• Excellent knowledge of complex computerized systems.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
