New Technician
Sunshower Sprinklers located in Oak Bluff has been installing and servicing irrigation systems in the Winnipeg area with care and quality since 1994. We have the largest irrigation service business in Winnipeg, creating a steady flow of service work for our technicians. With a diverse customer base, we strive to create a diverse team. We have a passion for our setting and maintaining beautiful landscapes and expect you to as well.
Responsibilities and Duties:
· Servicing Underground Irrigation Systems in Winnipeg and the surrounding area. This will include:
- Activating Commercial and Residential Underground Irrigation Systems
- Inspecting systems for optimal performance and coverage
- Checking the Controller for optimal programming and functionality
- Troubleshooting and Repairing Underground Irrigation Systems as required
· Communicating with our customers. Listen to the customer and the symptoms of the problem, diagnose the problem, remedy/ fix the problem, explain to the customer what you did.
· You will be using a Tablet to track time, providing estimates for repairs, keep track of parts, create invoices. Present invoices to customers and collect the payment.
· Tracking Parts used during repairs, and maintaining a van full of service parts
· Participation in the company Health and Safety Program as required
· Winterizing Irrigation Systems in the fall
· Expected to work with and learn from a lead technician. The lead will demonstrate, delegate and teach irrigation hydraulics, basic electrical and Sunshower sales and service methods based on customer care and profitability.
· The President and your lead Tech will mentor and develop you with the goal of making you a lead technician.
· Other duties assigned by senior leadership team
Qualifications and Experience:
· Two years experience in sprinkler irrigation.
· Must enjoy working outside
· A passion for keeping landscapes beautiful
· Must enjoy troubleshooting/problem solving
· Must be able to communicate with clients effectively
· Must be physically fit as there will be digging of holes and trenches involved.
· Class 5 driver’s license with less than 6 demerits
· Work well independently and in team environments
· Knowledge in the use of smart phones/ tablets as all of our work orders are completed using a tablet
Training:
· You will complete the Hunter Irrigation training modules on Hydrawise software and basic irrigation installation and service.
· Complete section one of the Irrigation Association program
· Complete the Hindsite software training modules. We use this software to create, track, analyze and invoice our service calls and installations
· Partake in Sunshower strategy meetings on customer service, efficient and productive team work with field techs
· Partake in weekly office and tech meetings
Compensation package will be dependent on experience
In the winter months we will attend irrigation training conferences with a focus on having some fun and learning. Some of our techs clear snow in the winter and others take the winter off.

Pay: $20.00-$30.00 per hour
