Overview
OSSTF-ESSP Accounts Payable Associate, Financial Services, Temporary Position. Avon Maitland District School Board (AMDSB) provides first class education to students and families throughout Huron and Perth Counties with a focus on engagement, inspiration, and innovation. Location: Education Centre in Seaforth, Ontario.
Position Details
- Hours of Work: 35 hours per week, 12 months per year
- Start Date: May 1, 2026
- End Date: June 25, 2027
- Rate of Pay: $24.86 per hour, Level 1 as outlined in the OSSTF-ESSP Collective Agreement

Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Process invoices for payment in accordance with standard procedures and payment schedules, including but not limited to:
- Organize and prepare invoices, expense claims and internal payment requests for payment
- Confirm transactions are in accordance with Board procedures (i.e., proper authorization, itemized receipts, etc.)
- Calculate and code tax rebate where applicable
- Assign general ledger account code where applicable
- Input invoice data into the Board’s accounting system
- Prepare and balance invoice batches for payment, including AP batch audits of payment items entered by another member of the Financial Services team
- Generate cheques and electronic funds transfers (EFT) for payment and assist in the accounting for preauthorized distribution payments (PAD)
- Distribute cheques and remittance advices to vendors including external, schools, and departments
- Initiate stop payment as required (e.g., due to lost cheque or incorrect payee)
- File completed transactions
- Communicate with all Board sites and departments regarding payments to vendors, employees, host families, etc.
- Liaise with vendors regarding outstanding or incorrect invoices, payments, etc.
- Perform related general office duties including filing, archiving, processing department mail, e-mail and internal courier, etc.
Job Specifications And Requirements
- Completion of a one year community college business program plus up to six (6) months related experience; or a combination of experience, education and training that is considered equivalent
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point) and computerized financial systems (e.g., Sparkrock)
- Proficient and accurate keyboarding skills
- Demonstrated belief in customer service excellence
- The capacity to problem-solve, and multi-task in a busy environment
- Ability to self-motivate and to work both independently and within a team
- Proven professional oral and written communication skills and a high degree of confidentiality
