Our paramedics go above and beyond 365 days per year. They strive to keep our citizens safe through community education programs and visits to special events and schools.
Day in the Life:
Reporting to a District Chief and/or Equipment and Maintenance Supervisor and assigned to various sites within Essex County and the City of Windsor, Paramedic Aides are intended to provide Paramedics support in cleaning equipment, stocking ambulances, moving vehicles, and other supportive duties as assigned.
Paramedic Aides are not patient-facing and do not provide patient care in any manner or capacity.
What We Are Looking For:
- Preference will be given to individuals working toward a Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree (priority selection will be given to candidates enrolled in a College Paramedic Program).
- Completion of a secondary school diploma.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to safely and effectively work with others; excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a self-directed manner with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated accuracy and ability to use computers.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position and use required PPE.
- Good understanding of infectious diseases and the importance of safety in an emergency care setting.
- Must be reliable with a good attendance record.
- Possess a valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle.
- Candidates will be required to be fit tested for respiratory protection and undergo training for proper PPE donning, doffing, and safe sanitation practices.
