The Espanola Public Library is looking for an outgoing, service-oriented, tech savvy individual to develop and facilitate the library’s summer reading club programming, and assist with front-line customer service. Espanola Public Library services the town of Espanola and three contracting areas, with a current total population of approximately 6,570.
The Espanola Public Library is accepting applications for the Summer Student positions. These are seasonal positions, working 28 to 35 hours per week, anticipated from June to August. The positions will be responsible for the development, promotion, and facilitation of the 2026 TD Summer Reading Program, and assisting with front-line library services. Strong communication skills are essential. Experience working with children, providing customer service, and the ability to speak French will be considered assets.
DESCRIPTION:
· Provide periodic frontline customer service to patrons and support to main team members at reception/check out desk.
· Experience working with children and/or families and caregivers
· Provide customer service in-person, over the phone, and electronically.
· Assist with library programming, including preparation and delivery.
· Experience using general office equipment such as computers, printers, photocopiers, fax machines, scanners, mobile devices, and library software.
· Respond to reference questions and inquiries.
· Flexibility, adaptability and ability to multitask are essential.
· Strong attention to detail.
· Performs related duties as assigned.
· Be able to work collaboratively in a team-based setting.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Qualifications:
· Be attending a high school or post-secondary institution.
· Be returning to a high school or post-secondary institution in the fall of 2026.
· Must provide a Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
