JOB TITLE: Apprentice Parts Technician
LOCATION: Edmonton, Ab. / Alberta Apprenticeship Applicable
JOB SUMMARY
As an Apprentice Parts Technician, you will support the Parts Department while completing your formal apprenticeship under Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT) standards. You will gain progressive, hands-on experience in parts operations including inventory control, procurement, customer service, and logistics while working under the supervision of a certified Journeyman Parts Technician. This role is designed to develop the competencies required to achieve Journeyman certification.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Assist with picking, packing, shipping, and receiving parts.
- Support inventory control including cycle counts and stock organization.
- Learn to interpret parts catalogs, technical diagrams, and systems.
- Assist with order processing, invoicing, and documentation.
- Provide customer support under supervision.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Participate in on-the-job and technical training.
- Follow all OH&S; and company safety standards.
APPRENTICESHIP REQUIREMENTS (ALBERTA AIT)
- Register as an Apprentice under Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT).
- Complete required on-the-job hours and technical training periods.
- Maintain a valid apprenticeship agreement with employer.
- Progress through apprenticeship levels (Periods 1–4).
- Successfully complete technical exams and evaluations.
- Work under the supervision of a certified Journeyman Parts Technician.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Interest in heavy equipment or parts operations.
- Strong willingness to learn and develop.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office).
- Strong attention to detail and teamwork.
- Ability to lift 30–50 lbs.
PHYSICAL & ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Ability to lift 30–50 lbs regularly.
- Ability to work in a warehouse/shop workplace.
- Eligible for Alberta apprenticeship registration.
- Successful Criminal Record Check.
